First Look: Holt Renfrew does the Jazz Fest

Jane Bunnett and Hilario Duran kicked off the 2016 edition of the Toronto Jazz Festival this afternoon in style at a brand new venue, Holt Renfrew. There are three more shows being held in the swank department store this weekend. Try arriving early if you'd like a seat and come prepared to shop or grab a quick lunch afterwards like the well-heeled, jazz-loving swells you are.

Bunnett and Duran brought the assembled crowd a set of beautiful duets (some from their 2011 release, Cuban Rhapsody). The duo format provided a lot of room for both artists to display their considerable improvisation skills. Their musical partnership goes back to the late 80's and it shows in the polish and rapport.

Bringing this level of musicianship directly to the people of Toronto, for free, in such a unique setting is definitely an initiative I can get behind. I'll be keeping an eye on Holt's this weekend!
